The Suffolk Nutrition Clinic

How Nutritional therapy can help you?
At the Suffolk Nutrition Clinic I specialise in the following conditions: Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Food Intolerances, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Thyroid Health.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
-
IBS is usually diagnosed following blood and stool tests and colonoscopy and endoscopy testing. Nutritional therapy involves testing for food intolerances first. This can be carried out in the clinic during the consultation (Please see section on Food Intolerance Testing). If this test comes back as normal a breath test can be arranged through a private laboratory to assess for Small Intestinal Bowel Overgrowth (SIBO). Both these tests can provide valuable information before providing dietary advice.
Food Intolerances
-
Food intolerances are sensitivities to foods which are not immediate like allergies but take place more slowly. They involve an antibody called IgG. (Allergies involve an antibody called IgE). They can trigger various symptoms including IBS symptoms, eczema, joint pain, migraine, headaches and unexplained fatigue.

ADHD
-
Nutrition can play an important role in managing symptoms in conjunction with conventional medication.
-
Balancing blood sugar levels, attention to gut health, the supplementation of specific nutrients, stabilizing histamine levels and ensuring optimum levels of healthy fats are some of the ways nutrition can help.
Thyroid Health
-
Nutrition can support the function of the thyroid gland. Support can be targeted and guided by blood tests carried out by a General Practitioner and sometimes additional tests carried out privately. Support will differ according to whether it is Primary or Secondary Hypothyroidism or an Autoimmune condition such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
‘Excellent service from Nicky at Woodbridge Complementary Health Centre for myself but also most recently for my son.

We have struggled to get anywhere with our GP service for a number of years and so decided to book an appointment.
Intolerance testing was fully explained with a diet plan and time scales to support my son.
His symptoms improved very quickly and Nicky arranged a follow up consultation but also email contact to check on progress.
She answered questions very quickly and provided continual support. She has a very caring nature and has kept in contact as we move forward with additional health concerns with my son.
Thank you, Nicky ‘
